In this course students will be introduced to the use of technologies in policing and the associated external factors. The aim is to train for excellence in areas related to the risks associated with physical surveillance and data surveillance.


Week 1 – Social and criminological externalities of surveillance

Week 2 – Social networks, mobile devices, web searches and mapping

Week 3 – The surveillance industry

Week 4 – Dataveillance

Week 5 – Sensitive data & DBs

Week 6 – The IRISS Project
